Sammy Jo (Diffendaffer) Allen is a former Big XII athlete and 4-year letter winner at Oklahoma State University. Throughout her softball career at Oklahoma State, Sammy has been recognized for the following accolades: NCAA Division I Women’s College World Series Participant, Four Time NFCA All-American Scholar-Athlete, making both the Deans List and President’s Honor Roll in various semesters of her student athlete career. Sammy was also presented with the Cowgirl Award recognizing her for her leadership in her Senior year. Sammy Jo now practices as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in the state of Texas and also serves other athletes as a Transition Coach with Athletes Soul. 

Sammy is passionate about helping individuals learn the power of assertiveness, boundaries, social connectedness, and healthy relationships with sports and people. Sammy’s primary goal is helping individuals identify and achieve their own unique goals. Sammy has received master’s-level training, has conducted her own research, and has specialized over the course of her career in systemic theories and interventions. In both her coaching and practice as a therapist, Sammy Jo is committed to acknowledging the whole person, including biological, psychological, social, and spiritual factors combined. 

For the athlete facing difficulty following a career in competitive sports, Sammy Jo is committed to helping you first acknowledge and recognize the shared difficulty of athlete transitions, identify the specific challenges that transitioning has brought on in your current day to day living, and lastly will work to help you identify the resources and perspectives needed to propel you forward with an equivalent degree of success to what you have experienced previously in sport.

The one-on-none transition program includes 12 virtual sessions over a six-month period. All athletes start with the initial assessment.

Each session is fully outlined covering all aspects of wellness. The first part of the program covers physiological needs and the second part covers self-actualization needs.
